Granbury ISD is proud of the amazing work happening at Acton Elementary and across the district!
Granbury ISD Special Programs physical therapist Wayne Cooper presented to the board about a special grant the district received to purchase new equipment for students.
Our district has been in critical need of updated adaptive equipment, as it has been nearly 30 years since new chairs and frames were last procured. The newly acquired equipment is not only functionally superior but also meets higher safety standards. Importantly, the Rifton chairs provide the postural support our students require while enabling them to sit at the same tables as their peers, rather than being isolated in wheelchairs with trays. This significantly enhances their opportunities for inclusion and social interaction within the classroom setting.
"We are deeply grateful to Be An Angel Network for their generous donation of seven Rifton Activity Chairs and two Rifton Pacers (gait trainers) to our district,” Cooper said. “These pieces of adaptive equipment will significantly benefit our students with diverse motor disabilities—including Cerebral Palsy, Hypotonia, Down Syndrome, and Microcephaly—who require specialized seating and mobility support to enhance their positioning and accessibility within the school environment. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Be An Angel Network for this invaluable contribution. Their support fosters a more inclusive educational environment where all students can feel valued and fully participate in the school community."
